3 places to still get a cheap-ass drink in Toronto

Not every beer in Toronto will break the bank as badly as a draft at a Jay’s or a Leaf’s game. When you really need a drink or a night out with your friends, but your bank account’s looking pretty sad, these 3 places are still rocking the super cheap beer menu you’ve been needing.

Duffy’s Tavern

Located in the great Bloordale Village at 1238 Bloor W, Duffy’s Tavern is a local joint that has served the neighbourhood since 1949. This warm and friendly pub has live music events every night of the week, and includes some of the cheapest drinks in the west end of Toronto. From $4 Tequila shots on Tuesday to $4 wine glasses on Fridays, it’s hard to do wrong at Duffy’s when you’re looking for a casual and cool place to relax for an evening. Pull up a stool and listen to some great music while enjoying your drink!

Madison Avenue Pub

The Maddy, at 14 Madison Ave., is a college-style pub that succeeds with the inexpensive drinks and relaxed atmosphere that accompanies a location geared to the younger crowd. A conglomeration of three converted Victorian mansions, the vintage décor is a massive attraction, giving the location a great sense of character. The drinks go as low as $3.50 on Thursdays and $4.00 every other day, so get out and have some fun!

Stratenger’s

Located in the fantastic Leslieville neighbourhood on 1130 Queen Street East, Stratenger’s is probably one of the most unique places in all of Toronto. A fantastic Italian-Indian fusion restaurant as well as being a completely affordable place to grab a great drink, this friendly, comfortable establishment is the go-to place for hundreds and a fantastic location for any night of the week. With draft beers starting at $5, bottles for $4 and shots for $4.75, Stratenger’s is a fantastic place to get a cheap drink when you need one. Be sure to try their butter chicken or home-made pizzas, grab a great drink and relax!

Save your money for things that are more important than beer, such as… Well, I can’t think of anything right now. Maybe for more beer? And try these places out.

Erin Cardone: Born on the Prairies, Erin Cardone grew up knowing there was more to life than canola fields and AAA Alberta Angus. So she escaped, living in Europe and Australia, white-knuckling it through plates of calf brains and raw horse meat, and learning languages she can't remember anymore. After a stint as a jaded, skeptical journalist, she changed tack and began writing rather awesome blogs and showing businesses that advertising is dead, so long live social media, with her businesses Legendary Social Media. She now splits her time between various Canadian cities, Costa Rica and wherever else the wind blows.
