3 really awesome pubs to drink at in TO

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing place to have a quiet drink with friends, or something a little more upbeat, Toronto’s got you covered. There are so many pubs and bars around the city that it can get a little overwhelming at times deciding just which one to go drink at! This is a quick guide to 3 great bars, so you can stop worrying and start drinking and enjoying that Friday night.

The Local

The Local is a great pub, with a unique feel – the brother-sister combo, Rue and Melissa Sexton, wanted to bring the friendly and warm pub experience from their native Ireland and transplant it into Toronto, and they absolutely, beautifully did. The Local has become one of the best places in town to grab a pint and listen to various musical performances, and has revolving art displays and great patio service. They have a fantastic selection on tap, with Irish mainstays like Guinness, but also more exotic beers like Junction Conductors Craft Ale or NickelBrook Naughty Neighbour.

And of course, no Irish bar would be complete without a whiskey selection, and this pub has one of the largest lists in town.

Bar Hop

Bar Hop is the place you want to be on a date – this great location boasts not only delicious drinks, but also fantastic food that compliments their quality beverages. Head Chef Mark Cutrara and Sous Chef Tara Lee have concocted a list of food that is absolutely to die for and have a selection of drinks to match. This specialty beverage bar and restaurant has a focus on local, craft beer in a chill atmosphere as well as great food like savoury pies, vegan cassoulet and fried pig cheek mac and cheese.

This is definitely the kind of place you want to spend a night, especially if you’re hungry for impressive, delicious food!

The Dog & Bear

The Dog & Bear is a traditional British pub that took over from The Social some years ago, and is located in Beaconsfield Village. They have a wide selection of beers on tap like any good British pub would, and don’t skimp on the authentic food, like battered pickles for appies and bangers and mash for your entree. This is definitely the kind of friendly place to go when you’re just interested in a casual get together and not necessarily something too fancy!

So what are you waiting for? Get out today and try some new bars!

Erin Cardone: Born on the Prairies, Erin Cardone grew up knowing there was more to life than canola fields and AAA Alberta Angus. So she escaped, living in Europe and Australia, white-knuckling it through plates of calf brains and raw horse meat, and learning languages she can't remember anymore. After a stint as a jaded, skeptical journalist, she changed tack and began writing rather awesome blogs and showing businesses that advertising is dead, so long live social media, with her businesses Legendary Social Media. She now splits her time between various Canadian cities, Costa Rica and wherever else the wind blows.
