4 ways to beat the heat in TO this year!

Uhhhh IT’S SO HOT IN TORONTO. It’s one of the hottest summers in recent memory, and everyone seems to be getting really cranky about it! The sun is beautiful and welcome, but sometimes it can be a bit harsh to deal with on a daily basis, especially when there’s no A/C… ANYWHERE.

Here are four cool ways to beat the heat and properly enjoy the summer you so eagerly anticipated all winter.

Get some ice cream!

A classic, but no less sensible choice, ice cream is one of the best, most fun ways to deal with really hot months like this. Whether you go to great places like the Big Chill, Greg’s Ice Cream or Ed’s Real Scoop for some authentic, delicious, hand-crafted ice creams or just down to your local grocery or convenience store for an ice cream sandwich, you could make a lot more mistakes than eating something cold on such a hot day.

Head out to the beach!

Another no-brainer, but it needs to be said – this is time to enjoy the sun, the sand and the water, and what better place than on the beach? Woodbine, Balmy and Kew beaches are large and right near each other and have great amenities. Sunnyside has great water quality and is generally less populated. If you’re feeling adventurous, Hanlan’s Point is clothing optional – great for getting rid of tan lines!

Stay inside and make margaritas!

Lime and tequila never taste better than when it’s hot and balmy outside. On really hot days, staying inside is also great because of how cool it is and how easy it is on your skin, so why not mix up a delicious drink and sit in a lounge chair on the deck? Or just open a window wide and relax under it? You’ll be cool and relaxed in no time.

Head out at night instead

Another option is to head out at night instead of leaving during the day – it’s much cooler out and you’ll still be able to see those beautiful summer evening sunsets. This also means you can stay outside for longer on those beaches, because you’ll never have to worry about getting overheated and burned!

This summer is already beyond beautiful, so get out there and enjoy it!  These tips can help you lengthen the time you get to spend outside, so don’t waste it when there’s so much beauty in the air!
