Awesome Toronto events happening November 27-29

It’s the end of November and that means Toronto’s mo’s are in all their hairy, prickly, Tom Selleck-y glory. Celebrate the mo with two mo-themed events, plus lamps that play music and a Christmas fireworks display in Toronto this weekend, November 27-29.

Fred and Mel’s Movember to Remember
Put your mo to work and strut it for the moustache contest put on by the Movember to Remember, by 102.1 The Edge. And that’s not all – there will be other moustache themed games and events, as well as live music by Small Town Lungs, the Honeyrunners, Ivory Hours and Brothers of North.
When to go: Friday, 8 pm
Where at? The Phoenix Concert Theatre, 410 Sherbourne St.
Tickets: admission is free, but a $20 donation to Movember is encouraged

Above Average Men
Bring those full-grown mo’s down to the Artscape Sandbox for an event that’s all about men. Most importantly, there’s a bar, as well as exhibitors, vendors, fitness and grooming tips, sex and relationship advice, nutrition and free gifts. Oh, women are welcome, too.
When to go: Saturday, 11 am-7 pm
Where at? Artscape Sandbox, 301 Adelaide St. W
Tickets: $25

49th Annual Cavalcade of Lights
Bundle up and head to Nathan Phillips Square for the explosive (literally) Cavalcade of Lights. The annual event is put on by Great Gulf and includes a serious fireworks display sponsored by TekSavvy, the lighting of the Toronto Christmas tree, and performances including a fire juggler, suspended acrobats, and tons of live music, including a set by Sloan. There’s a skating rink in the square too.
When to go: Saturday, performances start at 6 pm, fireworks at 8:15 pm
Where at? Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St W
Tickets: admission is free

Light Show by Thin Edge New Music Collective
We all know about visual arts, but Thin Edge New Music Collective wants to open our minds to acoustic arts as ell. The show at the Music Gallery on Sunday features Music for Lamps, where lamps that emit light and music created and performed by Montreal-based guest artists Adam Basanta, Max Stein and Julian Stein, as well as other performances.
When to go: Sunday, 8 pm
Where at? The Music Gallery, 197 John St.
Tickets: $15-$20

Erin Cardone: Born on the Prairies, Erin Cardone grew up knowing there was more to life than canola fields and AAA Alberta Angus. So she escaped, living in Europe and Australia, white-knuckling it through plates of calf brains and raw horse meat, and learning languages she can't remember anymore. After a stint as a jaded, skeptical journalist, she changed tack and began writing rather awesome blogs and showing businesses that advertising is dead, so long live social media, with her businesses Legendary Social Media. She now splits her time between various Canadian cities, Costa Rica and wherever else the wind blows.
