Life hacks for your clothes you’ll wish you tried earlier

Laundry. It seems so easy. You toss the dirty clothes into a bin, wash, dry, bam!

Sadly, it’s not so easy. There’s always that one shirt that refuses to be wrinkle-free and your gym clothes smell to high hell no matter how often you wash them.

The struggle is real, but you can make life a bit easier on yourself with these awesome life hacks for your laundry.

You can iron with a hair straightener

Both an iron and a hair straightener function under the exact same principle: using heat to flatten out and stretch whatever you’re using them on. Whether it’s hair or a pair of jeans, a hair straightener can work in a pinch if you need a quick once-over for your clothes. This way, you won’t have to truck out the ironing board and iron and work at it for a ton of time – you can just plug the straightener into the wall and go for it! This has the added benefit of being a great option for hard-to-iron places like between buttons. Just make sure that iron is clean before you put it on your clothes, and don’t use it on high heat on synthetic fabrics, which can get ruined.

Your dryer can help you iron too!

If your clothes are a bit more wrinkled than you thought they were, just toss them into the dryer again with a moist hand towel and let the dryer spin for about 15 minutes. As the dryer heats up, the water from the rag evaporates and loosens the wrinkles in your clothes. While this isn’t a solution for clothes that need a serious ironing, it can work in a pinch if you have a bunch of items that are just a little unsightly!

Smelly clothes? Try vodka

Did you have a fast-paced, exciting night on the town last night but forgot that you have nothing else to wear for tonight’s shenanigans? Simply want to wear that top again for tomorrow morning? Try putting a bit of cheap vodka (don’t waste the good stuff!) into a spray bottle and giving the item a good once-over. By the time it dries, your clothes should smell a lot better! Try it on gym clothes too so they don’t smell so horrendous between washes.

It’s not every day that you’ll need to use these little tricks, but knowing them helps matters out quite a bit. It’s all about preparation and knowing these simple tips, you’ll be better prepared to face the day when anything bad happens!
