This is why rugs are totally worth the expense

It seems nowadays everyone and their dog has a hardwood floor in their apartment. While they look great and are easy to clean, hardwood, laminate and tile have their drawbacks – they’re cold, loud, hard and lack personality.

Add some personality and softness to your Toronto apartment with rugs if your pad is full of hard flooring. They’re often pricy, but when you find a deal, it’s totally worth it. Here’s why you’ll love having rugs in your apartment:

They feel better on bare feet

It’s one thing to put on sandals to go outside, but if you want to keep your feet warm and snug in an apartment with hardwood floors, rugs are your answer. Hardwood floors are notorious for being cold, figuratively and literally, especially if your apartment doesn’t have in-floor heating. Not only that, the hard, slick surface just doesn’t feel as comfortable as rugs do. They add a little cushioning that absorbs some of the impact of your feet.

You can drop things on them and they won’t break (hopefully)

How many of us have dropped their phones and watched them shatter instantly while at a friend’s house? How many glasses have we shattered on the hardwood floors (even if the liquid inside is an easy clean, those glasses get expensive!) The great thing about rugs is that you can feel a little more confident that not everything that falls on the floor will break instantly.

You can lie down

This usually gets forgotten when looking at a new place – while you might not spend as much time as you used to on the floor (watching Saturday morning cartoons!), you still have very good reasons to do it every now and then. Take exercising: not only is doing yoga, stretching and sit-ups on a rug much more comfortable, it means you can sit down when you get too tired and catch your breath. Working out on hardwood floor is uncomfortable and lying down on it is hellish.

They can come with you

Your hardwood floors are staying put when you move to your next Toronto apartment, but your rugs are coming with you. They roll up relatively easily and for the most part, will fit into any size apartment.
