They say the average rent for an apartment in Toronto is about $1,200\/month, but chances are you pay a lot more than that, especially if you live anywhere near downtown, or in one of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n

We all hate forking out such a precious sum every month. Like you, we dream of better ways to spend half our paycheques. Here are ____ things you’d definitely rather spend our $1,200\/month rent cheques on:<\/p>\n

Beer and wine.<\/span><\/h2>\n

For $1,200, you could consume a lot of really great beer and wine. Seriously, every day would be a party. If a pint of beer is somewhere around $7 at a Toronto pub, your rent would buy you 171 beers per month. Or for wine by the glass at $9 each, that’s 133 glasses of wine. Just imagine how many friends you’d have.<\/p>\n

Awesome food.<\/span><\/h2>\n

The price of dining out in Toronto can be as high or as low as you want it to be, think Banh Mi Boys<\/a> versus Canoe<\/a>. But if you break it down, your rent works out to $40 a day, which could afford you some pretty decent lunches and dinners, as long as you don’t eat out every day. Just think: No washing dishes. Amazing.<\/p>\n

Toronto events.<\/span><\/h2>\n

There’s something awesome to do in Toronto pretty much every day, but we, the Renters of Toronto, can’t indulge in everything ’cause we’ve got bills to pay. For $1,200 per month, you could go to beer festivals every weekend, concerts, theatre, comedy shows, Leafs games and so much more.<\/p>\n

Travel.<\/span><\/h2>\n

It’s cold and you’d rather be in the Bahamas or something. $1,200 would cover a week or two there. Just sayin’.<\/p>\n

Clothes.<\/span><\/h2>\n

Gotta get you some of that Drave OVO swag.<\/p>\n

Personal training.<\/span><\/h2>\n

Just imagine how ripped you’d be for $1,200 per month. Your trainer had better buy you some sweet gifts for spending that much…<\/p>\n

Groceries, transportation, bills and the essentials.<\/span><\/h2>\n

Because honestly, after dishing out $1,200 a month, sometimes we all wonder how we’re going to survive for 30 days.<\/p>\n
