So practical. Not so pretty.<\/p>\n<p>Ikea desks are basically ideal for your apartment in Toronto \u2013 they\u2019re cheap, small and easy to move. What they\u2019re not, is chic.<\/p>\n<p>So here\u2019s a really cheap and easy way to inject chic-ness into your desk to help your apartment look better overall!<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #808080;\">The parts. You&#8217;ll need:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Ikea trestle desk \u2013 go for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ikea.com\/ca\/en\/catalog\/products\/S59933179\/\" target=\"_blank\">Linnmon\/Oddvald<\/a> combo, or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ikea.com\/ca\/en\/catalog\/products\/S09001986\/\" target=\"_blank\">Linnmon\/Finnvard<\/a> to get a version with shelves \u2013 $69.99-105.99 each<\/li>\n<li>Marble-effect paper or vinyl, try <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/Emoyi-Granite-Contact-Adhesive-Peel-stick\/dp\/B01GYKGXMI\/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1479853125&amp;sr=8-2&amp;keywords=marble+paper\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> \u2013 $22.99<\/li>\n<li>White paint<\/li>\n<li>Lacquer or varnish if you opt for the paper<\/li>\n<li>Paint-on glue if you opt for the paper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Do it.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If your table comes with black legs, consider painting them white. To do so, disassemble the desk, paint the legs assembly and let dry before reassembling.<\/p>\n<p>Measure out and cut the marble paper or vinyl so that it perfectly fits the top of the desk. The vinyl is self-adhesive, so stick it to the desktop, press firmly and let it sit, preferably with heavy-ish items on top, overnight. For the paper, apply a layer of glue to the desk top, then apply the paper carefully.
