Awesome Ikea Hack of the Week: A mod, apartment-sized desk

Even if you don’t work from home, having a desk in your Toronto apartment creates an awesome for your laptop, files, knickknacks and random stuff.

This Ikea hack will tell you how to make a very modern desk that’s the perfect size for your apartment and it’s super easy and affordable. The whole thing should cost you less than $250.

  1. The parts. You’ll need

  • Alex desk – $159.00
  • metallic spray paint for the legs, try this one x 3 or 4– $11.79 each
  • spray adhesive, try this one – $20.00
  • mask
  • wrapping paper
  • scissors

  1. Do it.

Remove the legs from the Alex desk. In a ventilated area, give the whole leg assembly at least three coats with the spray paint so the coverage is even and no spots are missed. When they’re dry, reattach the legs to the base of the desk top. Finally, give you desk some extra style by lining the drawers with wrapping paper. Measure out the inside space in the drawers and cut the wrapping paper to size. Apply the spray adhesive to the back of the wrapping paper, and place it inside. Let dry. And done!
